Green Pea Sprouts – Sweet, Crispy, Tender Shoots for Salads and Dishes
Green pea (Pisum sativum) sprouts are among the most pleasant and sweetest home-grown sprouts — their tender shoots with a naturally sweet, fresh pea-like flavor are instantly loved. Their crisp texture and vivid green color make them instantly appetizing on any plate. The 200 g pack provides months of regular sprouting.
Nutritional Benefits
Green pea sprouts are rich in protein, vitamin C, vitamin K, and B vitamins (especially folate and B1). Their fiber content supports gut flora and digestive function. The sweet flavor comes from natural sugars released as complex carbohydrates break down during germination.
- Rich in protein and fiber
- Vitamin C and K source
- Folate and B1 (energy metabolism, nervous system)
- Natural sweetness from germination sugars
- Crisp, tender texture
How to Sprout
Soak pea seeds for 10–12 hours (larger seeds need more water). Then place in a sprouting jar or tray and rinse twice daily with cool water. Tender green shoots develop in 3–5 days at room temperature. Best flavor is achieved at 4–6 cm shoot length — sweetest and crispiest at this stage.
Usage Ideas
Green pea shoots are excellent in fresh salads, as a side dish garnish, and in Asian stir-fries. Serve as whole shoots on festive plates, or mix into fresh pasta dishes. Their mild sweetness makes them popular with children too — a great way to introduce fresh sprouts to younger family members.
