A bolster is a densely filled, supportive cylinder that props the back, legs, neck and chest in yoga. In restorative poses the body can rest onto its steady surface, so tension lets go more easily.
The lotus
The lotus rises from the mud to a clean flower; tradition knows it as an image of purity and spiritual unfolding. On the bolster's dusty-rose cover the motif evokes a soothing, inward practice — especially in chest-opening, restorative poses.
Material & make
The cover is made from OCS-certified organic cotton, and the inner fill is natural buckwheat hulls. The hulls hold a supportive shape yet give a little, so the cushion settles under the body. Shown here in dusty rose. Approximate size 60 × 16 cm.
How to use it
For restorative yoga, chest opening, supporting the knees and lower back, and relaxing stretches. Laid along the spine, it opens the chest gently.
Care & good to know
The cover closes with a zip or drawstring at the base, so the filling can be topped up or thinned at any time. Hand washing in cold water is recommended; remove the buckwheat filling before washing. Slight differences in shade and the living texture of the cotton are part of the handmade character, not a flaw.
Kept near a quiet corner, it stays within reach for the moments when there is time to settle inward.
