A flat, wave-shaped Gua Sha massage stone in natural jade. The wavy edge fits the line of the muscles well, so the traditional sweeping massage is comfortable on both the face and the body. The cool touch of the stone is pleasant, and it offers a simple tool for a few minutes of relaxing ritual.
What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is one of the old methods of traditional Chinese massage, using a flat stone. Held against the skin, the stone is drawn over the face, neck, shoulders, arms or legs with light pressure in sweeping movements.
Jade
Jade is one of the most treasured, cool-to-the-touch decorative stones in Chinese culture; this piece is jade from the Xinyi region. Tradition regards it as a stone of harmony and balance, and in many cultures it is seen as a stone of protection and good fortune.
Properties and size
The stone is made from natural jade and measures about 9 cm. The wave shape fits the larger areas of the body well too. As a genuine stone, colour and veining vary from piece to piece.
Good to know and care
With a facial or body oil the stone glides more smoothly over the skin. After use, wipe it with a soft, clean cloth and keep it in a dry place; the cooling effect can be enhanced in the fridge. Massage is a pleasant complement to relaxation, not a medical treatment.
