Sound and character
The larger 5 cm wool-fleece head produces deeper, fuller, sustained fundamental tones. More mass means more energy transferred to the instrument, so the bass register also speaks richly — yet the strike never feels hard or noisy. A soft but powerful character that really opens up the voice of larger frame drums, gongs, monochords, and tongue drums.
How to use
A versatile pair, well-suited to singing bowls, gongs, monochords, and tongue drums (especially tenor- and bass-range instruments). They are also a staple of sound therapy work and sound bath practice, where the fuller bass tone helps deep relaxation.
Why this product
As an instrument maker, Feeltone knows exactly which mallet weight and character bring out the best in the instruments built in their own workshop. The beech shaft is stable, easy to grip, and built to last — designed for years of daily use. Supplied as a pair, which is essential for sound therapy work.
Care tips
- Choosing the right mallet matters as much as the instrument itself — try them across several instruments.
- Let the weight of the mallet do the work; the larger the head, the more important a relaxed wrist becomes.
- Never strike a person or animal with them — at 86 g per pair they carry serious momentum.
- Store in a dry place and keep them out of direct sunlight.
About Feeltone
Feeltone is a craft instrument workshop in Lassan, northern Germany, founded by Ingo Böhme. For more than two decades they have built monochords, sound beds, sound chairs, and ceremonial drums for therapists, sound artists, and meditation practitioners. Every instrument is hand-made from sustainably sourced timber and finished with natural treatments such as hard-wax oil.
