Sound and character
The soft wool-fleece head draws a warm, round, gently resonant tone out of the instrument. The strike energy is absorbed evenly across the head, so instead of a sharp tap you get a singing, sustained fundamental. Exactly the kind of voice frame drums and other resonant membranes ask for.
How to use
Designed primarily for frame drums, but also suited to smaller gongs, singing bowls, and softer-voiced tongue drums. They come into their own in sound therapy and meditation practice, where the aim is not rhythmic pulse but a flowing, sound-bath-like vibration.
Why this product
The bamboo shaft is light and flexible, so it follows the natural motion of the hand and spares the wrist. Oak adds stability where it counts. Supplied as a pair, you can play two-handed straight away — practically a must in sound therapy work.
Care tips
- Strike slightly off-centre on the drum head to coax out the overtones.
- Let the weight of the mallet do the work — drop the head rather than forcing the strike.
- Keep them away from moisture; wool fleece is absorbent and only stays springy when fully dry.
