Few objects are as closely tied to folklore and magical tradition as the traditional witches' broom. This decorative, hand-sized piece is made of natural broom grass (Thysanolaena latifolia) with careful handwork, and makes a charming addition to an altar, a ritual corner or a seasonal display.
The symbols: Hamsa hand and nazar
The broom is adorned with a white-metal Hamsa – the hand of Fatima – and blue nazar beads. In many traditions the Hamsa is a protective symbol, associated with blessing and harmony. The nazar is the well-known blue "eye" bead, regarded in tradition as a ward against the evil eye. Together they carry a gentle, decorative message of protection and good intention.
Mood and placement
It looks well hung on a home altar, a bookshelf or beside a door, and is especially loved in atmospheric, seasonal displays. An ornament that creates an intimate, slightly magical mood.
Good to know
Made by hand from natural materials, so the shape, size and binding may show small variations – which makes every piece unique. It measures about 20 × 10 cm. Kept in a dry place, it holds its shape at its best.
