Baikal winter bunching onion is a garden constant. Perennial onion. Year-round harvestable green-onion-sized shoots. Spring-sown, left in place for 3–4 years, it bunches out — plant once, harvest for years. Handles winter cold well.
Growing
Sow in February–March. Row spacing 30 cm, plant spacing 5–10 cm, sowing depth 2 cm.
Fresh green onion year-round — on cottage cheese, körözött, in salads, on főzelék. Tip: plant one clump at the kitchen garden edge, and always have fresh onion to hand.
