Four white, heart-shaped shell pieces hang from four fine strings, stirring at the slightest movement of air to give a soft, whispering chime. Not sharp, not loud: just a gentle sound that brings a quiet corner to life.
Capiz shell
The hearts are made from the translucent, pearlescent plates of the Capiz, or windowpane, shell. This natural material shimmers softly in the light, so the chime is lovely to look at even at rest, not only in motion.
Where to hang it
Near an open window, on a covered terrace or in a more sheltered spot in the garden, where a draught can move it gently. It is atmospheric indoors too: near a door, the opening and closing brings it to life.
Good to know
Shell is a natural material, so the shade and pattern of each piece is a little unique. In strong, sustained wind it is best moved to a more sheltered place, so its delicate sound lasts a long time.
