The 528 hertz wind chime
This wind chime is built around a 528 hertz base tone, with overtones at 792, 1056, 1320 and 1584 hertz. 528 hertz is one of the best-known members of the Solfeggio series, often called the Frequency of Love. You can hang it on the terrace or in front of a window, and the breeze brings soft, warmly ringing chords.
What it brings to your day
The 528 hertz sound offers a gentle companion to meditation, yoga practice and quiet evening rest. Many sources describe 528 hertz as a tone of renewal and fresh beginnings. The five pipes together form a full chord, which is reordered with every turn of the breeze.
Material and size
The pipes are made of aluminium, about 1 centimetre in diameter, with lengths between 22 and 42 centimetres. The holder and striker are wooden. The full wind chime is 80 centimetres long and weighs 430 grams. The tuning accuracy is within ±0.25 percent, so the desired tones remain reliable for many years.
Where to hang it
The pipes move most beautifully on a quiet terrace, a balcony or at the edge of a garden pavilion. Do not hang it in a place exposed to very strong wind, as prolonged knocking can wear the wooden holder. A gentle breeze and a few hours of sun bring out the full voice of the chime.
Care and storage
In winter, bring the wind chime indoors and wipe the pipes with a soft, dry cloth. The wooden holder can be lightly oiled with a drop of linseed oil from time to time, so the surface does not dry out. Do not leave it in prolonged rain, and you will continue to enjoy the warm, round sound for many years.
