The package includes 10 identical 10 ml glass bottles, each filled with steam-distilled Vetiveria zizanioides essential oil. The bottles arrive without labels, so you can apply your own branding, dosage instructions or design. Net content is 10 ml per bottle and the total weight is approximately 0.41 kg.
Botany: vetiver roots
Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) is a tropical grass whose scent comes from its dense, deep root system. Sesquiterpenes accumulated in the roots (vetiverol, vetivone, khusimol) are responsible for the characteristic earthy, woody, slightly smoky aroma. Mature roots of at least 18-24 months yield a fuller, deeper scent profile.
Origin and production
The oil is sourced from Indonesia, from traditional vetiver-growing regions. It is produced by steam distillation from thoroughly cleaned, dried roots. The volatile aromatic compounds are carried with water vapour over an extended cycle (often 18-24 hours), since vetiver oil is viscous and slow to release.
Applications
- Private-label cosmetics: deep base note for body oils, serums, foot balms
- Aromatherapy: grounding, calming diffuser blends for evening rituals
- Perfumery: base note in oriental and chypre compositions
- Soap making: excellent fixative in cold-process soap
- Massage oils: base for relaxing, muscle-easing blends
Storage and shelf life
Store the essential oil in a cool, dark place, preferably below 25 °C, in a tightly closed bottle. Protected from light and heat, vetiver oil typically keeps for 3-5 years; with maturation the scent profile becomes fuller. Once opened, it is advisable to use the content within 12 months to preserve the top notes.
