What this tuning bar is and where it comes from
You are holding a hand-made Indian metal tuning bar, tuned precisely to the traditional tone of the 1th chakra. The bar is made of metal (aluminium alloy) and gives a clear, compact tone. In the Indian sound-therapy tradition tuned metal bars have long been in use, because a clean, single tone keeps its character for a long time and can be guided easily.
Symbolism of the 1th chakra (Muladhara, root chakra) in the tradition
In the yogic tradition, the root chakra is said to provide one's inner sense of safety, the feeling of stability, and being grounded. The traditional colour of the root chakra is red, its location on the body is at the base of the spine, near the coccyx, and its keywords are: groundedness, sense of security, foundations. This tuning bar is tuned to the traditional tone of this chakra — a deep, earthy tone that opens a door to quiet attention and turning inward. Important: these descriptions reflect symbolism from the yogic tradition, not medical claims.
How to sound the bar and guide the tone
Hold the bar loosely at one end, leaving the other end free to vibrate. With the included soft mallet, tap gently a little away from the middle of the bar — no strong force is needed; a soft tap produces a clean tone. Then bring the sounding bar close to at the base of the spine, near the coccyx, about 5-10 cm from the body, and slowly circle it. One sounding lasts roughly 30-60 seconds. As the vibration fades, you can tap again. While practising, pay attention to your breath: slow, deep inhalation and exhalation supports inward attention.
Which variant suits you
This compact, traditional size sits comfortably in the hand and is easy to store. If a short daily sound ritual fits your routine, or you want to take it on the road, this shorter length suits your life. If you would like a longer, deeper tone for group or therapy work, the 19036 Tone variant is worth a look.
Accessories, package contents and care
The package contains the tuning bar and the soft-tipped mallet that goes with it. Store the bar in a dry, dust-protected place; if fingerprints or dust cover the surface, wipe it with a soft cloth. We do not recommend chemicals or abrasives, as the surface is sensitive after hand tuning. This bar is Indian craftsmanship, so small variations in size and finish may occur — these are not defects but signs of the hand-made character.
