Zömök tomato is an early outdoor variety bred for home gardens. The plant has determinate growth — it stops at a natural height of about 60–80 cm — and produces elongated cylindrical fruits weighing 50–60 g. The shape and size make it especially suitable for canning whole, alongside fresh use.
Sowing and care
Sowing time: March in seed trays, transplant outdoors after frost (mid-May). Row spacing 70 cm, plant spacing 40 cm. Determinate growth — no need to remove side shoots. Field cultivation without stakes is possible thanks to the compact habit.
The elongated, slightly oval fruits are perfect for whole canning, traditional Hungarian tomato preserves, and fresh salads. Zömök is reliable and undemanding — a good choice for beginner gardeners and anyone who wants generous fruits from a low-maintenance plant.
