The meaning of Om Mani Padme Hum
This tingsha cymbal pair was cast in Nepal and engraved around the rim with one of the best-known Tibetan Buddhist mantras, Om Mani Padme Hum. You will hold a piece that gently reminds you of compassion and inner calm every time it sounds. The deep grooves of the engraving catch the light beautifully, so the cymbals serve both as a sound tool and as a pleasing visual presence in your space.
Sound and dimensions
The pair measures 7.2 cm in diameter and weighs 314 g together. This middle size produces a clear, mid-high chime that rings audibly for about ten to fifteen seconds. Two people can comfortably hear it in the same room, yet it is not loud enough to disturb the next one. The two discs are joined by a leather cord so you can hold them easily in one hand.
How you can use it day to day
Many people sound the tingsha at the beginning of morning meditation, because the clear tone helps release surface thoughts. Others chime them at the close of a yoga session or breath practice to seal the work. You can also use them to mark a work break, to begin a child's bedtime story, or simply when you want a quick energetic refresh in the home.
Care and longevity
Solid brass slowly develops a soft patina over the years; this is natural beauty, not a defect. If you wish to bring back the shine, gently rub the surface with a soft cotton cloth and skip any detergent. The leather cord benefits from a light oiling now and then so it does not dry out. Never submerge the cymbals in water.
