Why a tingsha pouch matters
If you use a tingsha cymbal — for meditation, yoga or space clearing — you know that the metal discs are sensitive. Slipped into a pocket they can scratch on the surface, and the two discs knocking against each other lose some of their tone clarity. This blue, red and black cotton pouch prevents exactly that: with an inner lining and an in-between cotton ring it protects both the cymbal surface and the sound. Many people therefore keep it inside not only for travel but also at home when it is not in use.
Details of the blue, red and black brocade pattern
The outer fabric of the pouch is blue-red-black cotton with a brocade-style pattern, hand-stitched in Nepal. The blue-red-black colour combination looks well in a meditation corner next to a natural wooden stand, and the pouch is a decorative piece in itself. Since it is hand-stitched, tiny variations and small stitching irregularities are natural — each pouch is slightly different, yet carries the same characteristic pattern.
Size and compatibility
The outer size of the pouch is about 9 cm in diameter, and it fits tingsha cymbal pairs with a diameter between 7.5 and 8 cm. This size range covers the most common tingsha size, so if you have a 7-8 cm tingsha, it will fit in perfectly. For larger 9-11 cm cymbals this pouch would be too tight — there you need a larger pouch or a metal case.
The zipper and a practical closure
The pouch closes with a zipper, so it holds the cymbal safely even if the bag opening turns downward. The metal teeth of the zipper are fine, do not catch on the fabric and slide easily. Many people appreciate that no knots or threads need to be tied — it opens and closes with a single move. It is a favourite solution for travelling yogis, because it does not open spontaneously in another bag compartment either.
Care and long-lasting use
Wash the cotton pouch by hand with lukewarm water and a gentle detergent — machine washing may fade the brocade pattern. Dry it in the shade and do not put it into a tumble dryer. If you carry it regularly, it is worth treating the zipper from time to time with a drop of oil or silicone spray so that it slides smoothly. The blue, red and black colour, thanks to the natural cotton fibres, fades slowly and naturally over the years — this gives the pouch a beautifully 'worn-in' mood.
