Material and craftsmanship
The bowl is machine made from brass, a blend of copper, zinc, tin and eight additional precious metals (Ag, Ni, Cd, Ru, Pd, Pt, Cr, Mn). The metals are first melted together, then rolled into sheets and given their final, gently curved shape in a moulding press. A careful polishing step provides the smooth, lightly reflective surface that defines the Zenkoan style. With a gross weight of around 175 g it remains easy to handle while delivering a stable, focused sound.
How to use it at home
Small Zenkoan bowls are especially well suited for meditation, opening or closing a yoga session, breathing exercises or simply marking the end of the working day. Many people keep one on the corner of a desk and strike it gently to signal the start of personal quiet time. The clear tone helps quiet the mind and leaves a soft, lingering vibration in the room.
