Tibetan singing bowl Samadhi 28 cm

Approximately 28 cm Samadhi Tibetan singing bowl for meditation, sound baths and quiet evening practice. Detailed sizing notes and care tips for you here.

How the 28 cm Samadhi bowl sounds

When you first pick up this bowl, you will probably be surprised by the weight of a 28 cm piece. The thick wall and carefully shaped form together produce the sound typical of the Samadhi series: a fundamental tone with a deep, long-resonating fundamental tone, which unfolds gradually after a firm strike. First the deeper vibration fills the room, then the finer overtones slowly emerge. You do not need any musical background to hear this – a few minutes of attentive listening will already let you notice the layers of sound.

When to bring it out

This larger 28 cm bowl produces a room-filling, wave-like sound. It is chosen for sound baths, group relaxation and therapist practices where a soft yet penetrating fundamental tone must remain audible for several people at once. Many people set aside ten minutes before going to bed for the bowl: they sit down, take three deep breaths and only strike the rim when they feel the day has quieted inside their head. Another common habit is in the morning, right after waking up: not an alarm clock but the soft tone of the bowl opens the day.

Playing the bowl step by step

Use the accompanying wooden mallet. Hold the bowl on your open palm so that your fingers do not grip the rim – leave room for the vibration. Touch the mallet vertically and gently to the outer edge of the rim. For a continuous hum, lead it around the rim in a slow, even circle with light pressure. If the sound rattles, slow down. A 28 cm bowl can resonate for 20-45 seconds after a single good strike.

Care and storage for a long life

Store the bowl in a dry, dust-free place, ideally on its accompanying cushion or a soft cloth. Avoid metal surfaces, as they can cause small scratches. For cleaning, use a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth – strong chemicals or scouring powders are not needed. If you take it travelling, wrap it in a soft cloth so that both the rim and the side stay protected. Occasionally, if it feels dusty, wipe it gently – that is enough for a long service life.
