What is this small singing bowl like?
The Kuro-orin type bowl, about 11 cm in diameter, has a darker-toned surface. Its size makes it easy to hold, and the smaller diameter produces a softer, higher-pitched base tone than larger bowls. The surface is not decorated with engraving but has a simple, restrained look, so it fits well in clean indoor settings.
How do you play it?
You can use the included wooden mallet in two ways. Tapping the rim with the soft side gives a short, ringing base tone. Moving the mallet around the rim with steady motion makes the bowl sing, and the sound gradually unfolds. Due to the smaller diameter, the rim circling needs a slightly quicker motion than with larger bowls.
For what occasions do we recommend it?
The smaller size is especially good for short attention breaks, office calming, evening rest or a brief morning start moment. Many also choose it for travel or a small flat because it takes little space and can be picked up easily anywhere. It is also a good gift for a university student, young adult or an acquaintance who likes a modest, clean style.
Where to place it?
Place the bowl on a smooth, level surface with a soft pad so the vibration unfolds freely. Being small, it looks good on a shelf, the edge of a bookshelf, a desk or a windowsill. Avoid draughty, cold places and close proximity to a radiator, so the bowl keeps its look for a long time.
How to care for it?
You can regularly wipe it with a soft, dry textile and occasionally with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it well. Avoid abrasive sponges and acidic, chlorinated cleaners, as they may damage the surface. With careful handling the bowl will keep its clear, soft tone for many years.
