The advantages of the small size
This singing bowl is a friendly choice for home use, as it does not take up much space and is easy to pick up. The diameter of about 12 cm fits comfortably in a smaller meditation corner and even on the corner of a desk. You will likely enjoy how the fine sound spreads gently through the room, and how, within seconds, the flow of thoughts becomes quieter on everyday weekdays as well.
The Healing Buddha motif
On the outer and inner sides of the bowl, traditional symbols of the Healing Buddha appear, with finely worked engravings. In ancient Eastern tradition, the motif evokes a path toward calm and inner stillness. You do not need to know the tradition in depth, as the craftsmanship itself is a pleasing sight, and every sound from the bowl brings attention back to the present moment.
How to make it sound
Take the included striker in your hand and gently tap the rim of the bowl in one spot. The sound rises and slowly floats across the room. If you slowly move the striker around the rim, the bowl will sing continuously with a deep, ringing tone. With a few minutes of practice you will be able to play it with a confident hand.
Where you can use it
In a meditation corner it can mark the start and end of a session. During home yoga practice, many people use it to introduce a relaxation phase. As a companion to a few quiet minutes of sitting before going to bed, it is also lovely. In families with children, a single ringing tone can mark the beginning of storytelling at night.
Cleaning and care
After use, wipe both the outer and inner surface of the bowl with a soft, dry cloth. Lift heavier residue with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it right away. Avoid strong metal cleaners and scouring powders, because the fine motif may be damaged. Store the striker in a dry spot next to the bowl.
