The crown of the De-Wa family
The roughly 48 cm rim already produces a serious, room-sized resonance. You receive a bowl whose tone, once it has built up, stays for a long time and stirs a vibration that is clearly felt in the listener's body too. This category primarily belongs in a professional's hands.
Whose best choice it is
We primarily recommend it to you for sound therapy colleagues, yoga studios and meditation centres. At home, the person who will fully benefit from it is the one who has a dedicated practice-room-like quiet space and regularly engages with sound work. Your guests will be deeply impressed by it.
Stable support, shared lifting
At this size we suggest that you designate its final place right at the start and from then on use it with minimal moving. Place it on stable, low furniture with a thicker sound bowl cushion underneath. When moving it, do ask for help so two people lift it, holding the rim from both sides.
Slow, patient guidance
Work with a heavy, leather-wrapped mallet. Guide it along the rim with a slow, even circular movement and medium pressure. The build-up of the tone may take 10-15 seconds, but in return you receive a very long, full hum. Do not rush it: at this size patience brings the real experience.
Long-term care
Wipe only with a dry, soft cloth. Never use a scratching brush or a chemical agent. The patina and the small, fine marks that form on the surface are natural parts of the hand-finished work and of use, and they only add to its value. It is worth keeping a bowl of this size in its permanent place, and touching the rim only when you play it. Once a year it is worth having it looked over with a specialist's eye, especially if you regularly hold sound work sessions. With proper care you may enjoy the same deep, room-sized fundamental for decades, and your guests always receive the same calming experience.
