The 33 cm crown
As a higher member of the De-Wa family, the roughly 33 cm rim voices a wide, room-filling fundamental. You receive a bowl that already touches a medium-sized room and is noticeably present even in the middle of a group session. The larger diameter also means a wider contact base.
Where it fits
It is a good choice for a more spacious living room, a yoga studio, a therapy or meditation room. If you regularly hold group relaxation and would like to give the group a deep, calming foundation tone, you will be well served by it. Both you and your guests will feel the vibration in the space.
Support and lifting
Since this is a heavy piece, do use a firm table or a low stool, with a thick, round sound bowl cushion underneath. Lift it with two palms, holding it broadly from the rim so it does not slip from your hands. If you set it up for a longer session, it is worth arranging its place in advance.
Sound and guidance
Set the rim in motion with a leather- or fabric-wrapped mallet. Begin with a slow, even circular movement, and after a few seconds you will already notice the space filling with sound. Do not force the speed: with the larger mass, patience brings the most beautiful result.
Care
Wipe with a dry soft cloth after use. Do not use chemical cleaners. Fine wear marks on the rim and faint scratches on the surface are natural on hand-finished pieces. Do not rinse the inside of the bowl with water either: the metal alloy may react poorly to prolonged moisture. Keep it protected from dust on a soft textile or felt cover, and once a year it is worth checking thoroughly that everything along the rim has remained intact and smooth. Good care preserves the full, deep fundamental tone for decades.
