What makes this heavier piece different
The same roughly 31 cm diameter as its lighter sibling, only in a thicker and heavier build. You receive a deeper fundamental and a longer sustained ring that stays in the room longer than with the thinner companion. The added mass is the result of traditional hand work and each piece is a little unique.
Who will really enjoy this one
We recommend it to you for sustained, deeper meditation practice, for sound work sessions and for a home space with a larger air volume. If you like to keep a long circular hum going, you will truly come to love it: the thicker wall holds the vibration more easily.
Support and stability
Because of the increased mass, stable support is especially important. Place a thicker sound bowl cushion beneath it and lift it with two hands. Put it on a level, smooth surface so that the tone does not lose clarity. Small resting marks on the base rim are allowed; they are natural traces of hand work.
How to play it
Begin with a leather- or fabric-wrapped mallet: this mass prefers a softer, patient movement. Run the mallet along the rim with medium pressure and slowly, and notice how the tone rises within a few seconds. Once you find the right speed, the hum sustains itself.
Long-term care
Wipe with a dry cloth after use. Avoid scratching scrubbers. Darker patches developing on the surface are natural marks of the traditional finish and of use, and they do not diminish its value. Keep the bowl in a dry, well-ventilated place, preferably on a separate soft sound bowl cushion. Do not touch the rim too often with your hand, as the moisture of the skin may leave marks over time. If you do not use it for a longer period, cover it with a soft cloth against dust, and even on festive occasions you receive the same full, deep fundamental tone.
