Tibetan Prayer Flag Garland – Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava)

Tibetan prayer flag garland with ten colourful flags, featuring Guru Rinpoche's portrait and mantra. Made in Nepal, 210 cm long, cotton-polyester blend.

The Tibetan prayer flag garland is one of the most beautiful traditions of the Himalayan region, and you can now bring it to your home or garden. The garland consists of ten individual flags, each measuring 20 × 20 cm, arranged on a 210 cm long cord. Each flag features the portrait of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, together with his mantra.

Who was Padmasambhava?

Padmasambhava was a great master who lived in the 8th century and brought Vajrayana Buddhism from India to Tibet. He is venerated as the root master of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, and remains one of the most important spiritual figures in the Himalayan region. The images and inscriptions on the flags carry his blessings to all who hang the garland.

The Meaning of the Five Colours

The blue, white, red, green and yellow colours symbolise the five elements and the five Dhyani Buddhas. According to tradition, every gentle breeze carries the printed blessings into the surrounding environment, spreading goodwill in all directions. You receive not only a decoration but a living, moving system of blessings that quietly works in the background.

How to Place It in Your Home

The garland can be hung between two trees in the garden, on terrace posts, on a balcony, or along a free wall of a meditation room. Try to choose a place where the breeze can freely touch the flags. The tradition holds that a higher position is more favourable, as the blessings then reach a wider area.

Material and Craftsmanship

The flags are made of 70 percent cotton and 30 percent polyester, making them durable yet lightweight and gently flowing. The prints are vivid in colour and suitable for outdoor use, although natural fading over time is part of the tradition: Tibetans believe this shows that the flags are truly doing their work.

What to Consider Before Buying

The total length of the garland is approximately 210 cm, so measure the chosen spot in advance. The prints are handmade, so small variations may occur in colour and pattern – these are not defects but signs of artisan work that make each piece unique.
