What amber resin incense is and why it is special
Amber resin is one of the oldest incense materials, known for its warm, resinous and slightly sweet scent. In the Tibetan tradition it is used in granular or chunk form and is not burned as a stick or a cone, but warmed on charcoal or an electric resin burner. This means there is no binder or wood powder in it – only the pure resin works, and the scent profile also becomes deeper and richer.
How to use it at home
Place a small grain of the resin on a metal dish or a resin burner, then heat it from below. The traditional method is to scatter it on a lit charcoal briquette, where the resin begins to smoke quickly. A more modern, gentler solution is an electric resin burner, where the scent releases more slowly and in a controlled way. We recommend both methods to you: charcoal gives an intense, quick fragrance cloud, while the electric device provides a longer, gentler scent stream.
How it fits everyday life
Many use it to wind down in the evening, before yoga or meditation practice, or simply to scent the home. The warmth of the amber scent fits particularly well to autumn and winter evenings, when daylight retreats early and a soft, natural fragrance is welcome. Resin smoke is not the same as that of stick incense: it is deeper and less penetrating, so it is often appreciated even by those who are otherwise sensitive to traditional incense.
Material, origin and quantity
The resin is of natural origin, coming from Nepal, where Tibetan communities process it in the traditional way. The gross weight of the package is 64 g, which is an ample amount for resin smoking: a small pinch (about half a gram) is enough for one occasion, so the package can last several months when used regularly but in moderation.
Practical tips and safety
Always heat the resin on a heat-resistant dish, on a flat and stable surface, away from children and pets. Do not leave the room unattended near a burning charcoal or an electric device, and ensure adequate ventilation. Store the resin in a dry, cool place, preferably in a small sealable jar or metal tin, so that its scent and texture are preserved for a long time.
