The meaning of the lotus
The lotus is an ancient symbol of transformation: the flower of moving from darkness towards light. Rooted in water, the plant lifts a clean surface above it, and in many traditions this image stands for renewal and inner cleansing. A box decorated with this motif gently reminds you with every use that tarot too is an inward journey, not outward fortune-telling.
Why a dedicated holder for tarot
Tarot cards are sensitive objects: frequent shuffling, moist hands, dust and light leave marks of wear over time. If you keep your cards in a sturdy, lined box, they keep their shape, colours and their own energy for longer. The holder also signals to the surroundings that this is an important, respected object.
Material and craftsmanship
The box is made of acacia wood at an Indian workshop with handwork. The lid is finely engraved with a lotus motif — sanded smooth and pleasant to the touch. The inside is covered with a soft lining so the cards are not scratched. The dimensions (17.5×13×6.5 cm) allow a standard tarot deck to fit comfortably, along with a fabric pouch and perhaps a small cleansing stone.
Where it fits on a shelf
The box is also a beautiful object on an open shelf, as the engraved motif on the lid catches the eye at eye level. It looks good on the corner of a table, on a study shelf or close to a meditation corner. You can put it on display with confidence even when a friend visits or at a family dinner — the box stands on its own as a neutral, decorative object.
Care and storage
Keep it in a dry place protected from direct sunlight, as long sunlight gradually fades the wood. A soft, dry cloth is enough for cleaning. Avoid damp wiping and chemicals. If the wood becomes a little matt over time, a small amount of colourless furniture polish can gently bring back its natural glow. On wood, occasional scratches often blend nicely into the patina of use.
