A box with a maker behind it
This card-holder box is hand-crafted in India. The side walls are made of wood, while the surface of the lid is covered with a thin metal sheet into which the pentacle symbol is gently embossed. The meeting of the two materials gives a natural, pleasant feel: your fingertips sense the embossed lines of the metal, while the body of the box stays warm and solid. Its dimensions (18 × 13 × 6 cm) follow exactly the proportions of a classic tarot deck.
What you can use it for
The most typical use is, of course, storing a tarot or oracle deck – the pentacle is a familiar, beloved symbol for card-readers. But who do you know who would have small treasures they would like to keep in one place? Jewellery, earrings, rings, small crystal pieces, a meditation mala, little notes, photographs – all fit comfortably in the 18 × 13 cm interior. The 6 cm height is enough even for thicker decks.
What the pentacle means
The five-pointed star (pentacle) is an ancient symbol appearing in many cultures: it adds a fifth element (spirit, idea) to the classical four (earth, water, air, fire). In Western esoteric and tarot tradition it symbolically marks wholeness, balance and protection. You do not need to give it a deeper meaning – it is a beautiful, well-known geometric form that may simply appeal to you for aesthetic reasons.
Details and craftsmanship
The lid opens upwards, revealing soft, pleasant felt lining underneath that protects the contents from scratches – particularly suitable for storing delicate paper cards. At the bottom, 4 small rubber feet help the box stay in place on the table and prevent surface scratches. The total weight of 531 g feels reassuringly solid yet not heavy when travelling.
How to keep it beautiful for a long time
The metal lid should not be exposed to standing moisture for long, so that the shine and the fine lines stay intact. You can easily wipe it with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. The felt lining can be dusted with a brush. If the rubber feet ever wear out a little over time, they can be reattached with small pieces of double-sided tape at any time.
