The moon shape and the crystal sphere
At the centre of the suncatcher is a metal frame drawing the curve of a moon, decorated with amethyst stones, with a polished glass crystal sphere hanging below. When sunlight passes through the sphere, it casts round light spots in your room, while the amethyst also reveals its gentle violet tones on the wall. The full size is around 30 cm.
Where to hang it
The piece looks lovely on a bedroom window, beside a reading corner or on a small balcony door. A south- or west-facing window is a particularly good choice because afternoon sunshine is most effective for the light effect. As the weight is only 65 grams, you can hang it on a nail or an adhesive hook without needing any heavy fitting.
The materials
The frame is metal, which gives a stable yet slim line. The amethyst pieces are natural semi-precious stones, so they show small tone differences typical of natural stone. The sphere is cut from glass and lets light through clearly, so the rainbow spots appear sharply on the wall.
Where it comes from
The suncatcher is produced in China, where there is a long tradition of making such fine metal, stone and glass decorations. It arrives in a cardboard box, which makes it suitable for gifting too, if you would like to give someone a thoughtful surprise for their bedroom or home decor.
Cleaning and care
Wipe the crystal sphere from time to time with a soft, dry cloth so dust does not dim the rainbow effect. Wipe the small amethyst pieces in the same way, and do not use chemical cleaners directly on the piece. For stains, use a cloth lightly dampened with lukewarm water and then dry the surface. With this simple care you can enjoy the piece for many years.
