This cone-shaped sun-catcher is cut from lead crystal with a pearl-shine finish. The AAA-grade piece offers clearer, sharper refraction than lower grades. The elongated form hanging point-down gives the crystal a classical, elegant appearance.
What "sun-catcher" means
A sun-catcher is a smaller decoration, usually made of faceted glass or mineral crystal, hung in a window to break incoming sunlight into coloured spots on the opposite wall. This cone-shaped version serves the same purpose, simply with a distinctive form and a pearl-shine surface.
Where to hang it
We recommend a window receiving a few hours of direct sun per day. A kitchen window, dining-room window or smaller study window all work well. It is more proportionate at a smaller window than a large ball, so it suits rooms with less spare space.
The light play it creates
The lengthwise facets of the cone break the light into elongated rainbow spots, which slowly travel across the wall as the sun moves through the sky. The pearl-shine coating adds a subtle, cool shimmer even on overcast days, so the piece is not interesting only in bright sunshine.
Cleaning and care
Wipe weekly with a dry microfibre cloth. Clean fingerprints or dust gently with lukewarm water. Avoid abrasive products, window sprays and alcohol-based cleaners, as the pearl-shine coating can be damaged. Check the cord and hook once a year.
Practical notes
The sun-catcher arrives in protective packaging. Use a stable hook and do not leave it swinging within reach of a small child or cat. The tip of the cone is sharp, so when storing it, take care that it does not strike a hard surface.
