What does the Hamsa represent?
The Hamsa — also known as the Hand of Fatima or the Hand of Miriam — is a stylised palm depiction shared by many cultures: Islamic, Jewish, North African and Middle Eastern folk traditions all claim it as their own. The open palm is an ancient symbol of protection, blessing and the warding off of ill intentions. The eye that often appears in the centre of the palm further strengthens the message of protection against the "evil eye".
Why a blue base?
Blue is one of the most common companion colours of Hamsa depictions — in many traditions blue itself carries protective meaning. The deep, saturated blue is elegant yet everyday: it pairs well with jeans, linen trousers, a long skirt or simple light-coloured tops. Wash at 30 °C with similar dark colours on a gentle cycle. Do not bleach and avoid harsh detergents. Avoid the tumble dryer — air-dry inside out, in the shade. Iron only on the reverse side at medium heat. The vintage feel matures further with use; this is part of the t-shirt's character.
