The calm shape of a circle
There is something soothing about everyday objects that draw soft circles instead of sharp, hard shapes. This 9.5 centimetre round soapstone tray brings exactly that mood into your home. Indian craftsmen carve and polish each piece, gently rounding the edge so it is pleasant to touch.
Its original purpose – and much more
The round shape was first designed for cone candles: it cradles them perfectly and catches the drips of warm wax. But you can use it in many other ways: place a tealight on it, a smouldering incense cone, or rest a ring or earring there overnight. A round tray also looks beautiful under a small crystal or piece of mineral.
Why grey?
Grey soapstone has a special character: cool yet gentle in tone, and far more versatile than it first seems. In natural cool light it looks elegant and modern; by candlelight it shows a much warmer tone. It pairs equally well with white porcelain, dark wood and copper. A colour that never goes out of style.
A unique character on every piece
The pattern of soapstone is naturally varied. Your piece may show pronounced veining, or have an almost uniform surface. Small lighter specks or warmer patches are equally possible – all are hallmarks of natural stone and proof that you hold a one-of-a-kind piece.
Simple care
Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Let any spilt wax harden, then flick it off. The stone is almost never damaged, and if a small scratch appears, it blends into the natural pattern – nothing to worry about.
