The Om syllable carved into soapstone
This round 8 cm soapstone incense holder is crowned with a hand-carved Om — the ancient mantric syllable of Hindu and Buddhist tradition. The piece weighs 113 g, sits 8 cm tall and is shaped from naturally shaded Indian soapstone, so every example carries its own faint marbling.
How to use
Slot a standard incense stick into the narrow angled hole beside the Om, light the tip and blow out the flame so it smoulders gently. Ash collects inside the recessed body, leaving the surface around the holder clean. A stick burns for around 20 to 40 minutes.
Care and pairing
Dust with a soft, dry cloth and wipe occasionally with a slightly damp one. Use a soft brush to clear the recesses of the Om carving. The motif pairs especially well with sandalwood, nag champa, frankincense and tulsi — warm, meditative scents that honour its contemplative roots.
