This Pisces box is made of mango wood, 10 × 10 cm and 6 cm high. The lid is dark blue and sprinkled with gold dots. In its cream centre circle, two fish are drawn in gold with long, veil-like fins. They swim in a circle, each following the other’s tail. Twelve sections around them hold the zodiac constellations. Two tiny hinges sit at the back and a metal clasp at the front. Opened, the lid stays upright on its hinges, so you need not hold it. The sides are brown wood with the grain clearly visible. Made in India; you receive one box.
Two fish and a cord
One version of the Greek myth tells how Aphrodite and her son Eros turned into fish to escape the monster Typhon. So as not to lose each other, they tied themselves together with a cord. The sign runs roughly from 19 February to 20 March.
People born under Pisces are said to sense other people’s moods easily and to get lost in their own thoughts.
A water sign at the end of the circle
Pisces is a water sign, alongside Cancer and Scorpio. Traditional astrology linked it to Jupiter, modern astrology to Neptune, the planet named after the Roman god of the sea. As the last sign, it closes the circle, and Aries begins it again.
For amethyst and aquamarine
Amethyst is the birthstone for February and aquamarine for March. If you give a Pisces friend one of these stones, you can hand it over in this box, and it can stay there afterwards. Rings and earrings fit too, as does a small bead bracelet. Inside, the wood is bare, and a dry, soft cloth is all it needs for cleaning.
