Small Colourful Coated Wooden Box – Compass of Life, 10 × 10 cm

A small square mango wood box with a hinged lid, metal clasp and gold compass rose, 10 × 10 × 6 cm, for crystals and rings.

A small square box made of mango wood. Its base is 10 × 10 cm and it stands 6 cm high. The lid opens on two tiny metal hinges, and a metal clasp keeps it shut at the front. In the middle of the black-coated lid is a gold compass rose with N and S at its points, set against a red pattern drawn from circles. Clouds, a lotus flower and coloured ribbons surround it, and the words “Compass of life” run along the bottom. The sides are brown, grained wood. Made in India; you receive one box.

Raw crystals in a compass box

In the photo it holds a few raw amethysts and pieces of quartz, and that is about what fits comfortably. A ring, earrings, a pendant or paper clips on a desk work just as well. A longer necklace fits too if you coil it. Inside, the wood is bare.

The same wish, smaller

Here too the words mean a compass for life. You will find the same design on a round box and a medium rectangular one. If space on your bedside table is short, this is the smallest of the three. Given together with the medium box, the small one can hold the rings and the larger one the bracelets.

Hinge and clasp

Hinges hold the lid at the back and the clasp keeps it closed at the front, so it will not fall off. There is no key or lock. Open, the lid stays attached, so you have nothing to put down while you take out a ring. Carried in a bag, it is less likely to spring open than a box with a loose lid.

At about 220 g, the box is light. Wipe the lid and sides with a soft, dry cloth, and keep it away from radiators and strong sun.
