Here the sign of Aries decorates a mango wood box. Its base is 10 × 10 cm and it is 6 cm high. Gold dots glint across the dark blue lid, and in the cream circle at its centre is a gold ram’s head with horns curled into big spirals. Thin rays spread out behind the head like the rays of the sun. Around it, twelve sections hold the zodiac constellations. The lid is hinged, with a metal clasp at the front. Made in India; you receive one box.
The ram with the golden fleece
In Greek myth a flying ram with a golden fleece carried Phrixus and Helle away on its back. Its fleece became the Golden Fleece that Jason and the Argonauts later sailed off to find. The sign runs roughly from 21 March to 19 April and is the first sign of the zodiac.
Aries people are said to make up their minds quickly and to like being the first to start something. Patience is not their strong point.
A fire sign ruled by Mars
Like Leo and Sagittarius, Aries is a fire sign. Astrology links it to Mars, the red planet named after the Roman god of war. If there are several fire signs in your family, the three boxes look good side by side.
For rushed mornings
If you always hunt for your earrings at the last minute, keep them in this box by the mirror. A ring or two, a few bracelets and some earrings fit inside, and the interior is bare wood. Wipe the lid with a dry cloth and keep the box off radiators.
A March or April birthday calls for a gift on which the person celebrating sees their own sign. If you know which crystal they like, put one inside.
