The distinctive feature of the wool-headed mallet
If you specifically wish to draw a soft, caressing tone from your metal singing bowl, then this 30-centimetre wool-headed mallet is recommended particularly for you. The head measures approximately 3.5 centimetres in diameter and is made of dense wool. The wool material behaves even more gently than felt, so the sound takes on a warmer and deeper character.
How it differs from felt
The wool fibres are more elastic and dampen the overtones slightly more. In practice, this means for you that the fundamental note of the bowl rings out even more clearly, while you will perceive the metallic ringing less. This is especially pleasant when you play the bowl for evening quiet time or for meditation before sleep. The long 30-centimetre handle offers a safe distance between the rim of the bowl and your hand.
The benefits of the light weight
The mallet's total weight is only around 42 grams. You will not tire your hand even during a longer meditation or sound massage, and the light weight allows fine, sensitive strikes to be executed well. With this small mass, the bowl is not overloaded, so its vibration can unfold freely.
Traditional handwork from Nepal
The wooden handle is made by hand in Nepal, so the grain, colour, and exact weight of each piece is slightly different. We therefore give you not an item produced on a conveyor belt, but a unique piece, made distinctive by its natural material and handwork.
How to care for the mallet
Clean the wool head only in a dry manner: gentle shaking or a soft brush is appropriate. Please avoid washing with water, as the wool may mat together and the character of the sound will change. Store it in a dry, dust-free place, away from direct sunlight. Use it only with metal singing bowls; for a crystal glass bowl, a separately designed mallet is recommended.
