You can place it on a soft cushion on a table, or hold it in your palm during meditation.
How to sound the bowl
With the wooden mallet included in the package, you can play it in two ways. First, by tapping gently on the rim, you receive a clear, ringing tone that fades slowly. Second, by running the mallet around the outer rim with continuous pressure, you create a singing tone — this is called rim circling. If you are meeting this object for the first time, we recommend that you spend a few quiet minutes trying it, as you will find the right pressure and speed within a few attempts.
How to use it at home
Many people make it part of the morning or evening quiet time: a single strike helps you direct attention to your breath. It is also a favoured tool at the start and end of yoga classes — useful for marking the boundaries of the session. It also makes a thoughtful gift if you would like to surprise a dear friend.
Care and storage
Wipe the outer surface from time to time with a dry, soft cotton cloth so dust does not settle on it. Washing under running water is neither necessary nor recommended — the metal alloy surface is best preserved by dry cleaning. Store the bowl on a soft cloth or in its original packaging, and store the wooden mallet separately in a dry place, since a damp environment may warp it.
What to watch for on unpacking
