The smaller wooden mallet combines easy handling with a fine tone. It is made from a single solid piece of wood, with no covering. You receive an accessory that fits smaller or medium singing bowls perfectly and gives a secure grip even for a beginner.
Who it is mainly made for
You will feel the advantage of the smaller mallet if you practise with a hand-held, thinner singing bowl. A larger mallet is hard to move around the rim of a small bowl, while this version follows your motions nimbly. Your wrist will not tire even at the end of a longer session.
Tonal character
Bare wood gives a definite, clean tone. Because of the smaller size the sound is a touch finer than with the large mallet, which is exactly what small bowls need. Continuous rubbing holds the vibration well, and as a striker it produces a short, clean tone.
Technique and practice
Hold it in the middle, loosely. Lead it around the rim of the bowl with slow, even pressure. At the beginning, experiment with varying the pressure and speed. You will find the right rhythm within a few days, and from then on practice will be a pleasure.
Care
Keep it in a dry place. Do not treat it with chemicals or oil, as this can affect the sound. If the surface becomes slightly rough, smooth it with fine sandpaper. With proper handling it remains your favourite piece for years.
What we suggest pairing it with
It is ideal for a smaller, table-top or hand-held bowl. If you have a larger, standing bowl, we recommend the longer version. If you are unsure, we will gladly help you choose – just write to us with the size of your bowl.
