What you can use this mallet for
This singing bowl mallet, made in Nepal, comes in the felt with cotton wrap version, large (L) size (31 cm). You receive a tool designed specifically for singing bowls, used for sustained rim-rubbing to produce the bowl's primary tone. At 236 grams, it sits comfortably in your hand, neither too heavy nor too light, supporting longer sound meditation sessions. The felt head is wrapped in cotton, which adds extra depth to the tone and helps preserve the mallet's structure.
How to bring out the bowl's sound
Hold the mallet upright and move it in a circular motion along the outer rim of the bowl. You will feel how the friction of the felt gradually builds the vibration, and the entire body of the bowl begins to resonate. For a gentle strike, tap the side of the bowl lightly, producing a soft and rounded tone that suits relaxation practice.
Why Nepalese craftsmanship matters here
Nepalese craftsmen have been producing mallets to accompany singing bowls for decades. The felt material is selected to be soft enough for the bowl surface yet dense enough to create steady vibration. You receive a tool that holds its shape and performance over time with normal use.
Which bowl it suits
The large (L) size is generally recommended for medium-sized singing bowls. If you are unsure which mallet fits your bowl, a useful rule is that smaller bowls suit smaller mallets and larger bowls suit larger ones. You can choose from several sizes, since each delivers a slightly different tonal character.
How to store and care for it
Keep the mallet in a dry place, ideally next to your bowl on a soft cloth or in a wooden box. Over time the felt head may compress slightly; this is normal wear and does not noticeably affect the sound. Avoid moisture and direct sunlight so the piece keeps its color and shape for many years.
