A bold, hand-filling shungite pyramid with a base of roughly 5.5 x 5.5 cm. Its deep-black, matte-metallic surface conceals an extraordinary material: shungite is one of Earth's oldest and most unusual rocks.
Shungite, the geological fact
Shungite is a black, carbon-rich rock over two billion years old that resembles coal. Its unique structure lies between amorphous stone and graphite; as type II shungite it contains 50-90% carbon and includes fullerene, a rare spherical molecular form of carbon. Its main source is the Shunga region of Karelia in Russia, from which it takes its name.
A historical note
Shungite has been known and used in Karelia since the 18th century; Tsar Peter the Great founded the first Russian spa around the local spring water. This is a historical anecdote, the description draws on tradition and user experience regarding the stone's effects rather than on proven fact.
Form and placement
The pyramid is a clean, geometric shape that many place at a favourite spot at home, on a desk, or in a meditation corner. Tradition associates it with harmonising a space and a calm presence. As a natural stone, each piece is unique.
Care
Wipe it with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Protect it from hard knocks, as the edges of the pyramid can be vulnerable.
