Selenite Obelisk (Variant 2)

Larger selenite obelisk from Morocco with a soft satin white shimmer. A home decor piece for your shelf or table.

The different proportions of the second variant

This obelisk has a somewhat larger mass than the first variant. The square column also ends here in a pyramid peak, but the whole piece is wider and heavier. That is why it stands more steadily on the shelf and fits larger home surfaces. Selenite is mined in Morocco, and each piece is carved individually from a single crystal block.

The shimmer and glow of the surface

A typical feature of selenite is the fine satin glow that comes from its lengthwise fibres. So when you tilt the crystal toward the light, the surface shines in long stripes. You can therefore cast an interesting shadow on the wall by placing it in front of a lamp. In the evening, in candlelight, the play is especially beautiful: the light sinks into the crystal and returns glowing from within.

Tips for placing it at home

Because of its larger size, this variant looks good in the middle of a bookshelf, where it rises vertically beside the line of books. On a console table in the entrance hall, it can be a homely welcoming piece for your guests. On the bedroom dresser, next to a ceramic bowl, it also creates a pleasant quiet point. You can freely experiment with where it best fits in your home.

A quiet companion in the noise of everyday life

Many people love selenite pieces because the soft whiteness provides a kind of visual pause. After a long day, when we look at it, the eye calms down, and for a few minutes the gaze rests on the shimmer of the surface. The simplicity of the obelisk form helps it not to draw away attention — rather it accompanies you than speaks emphatically.

Lasting joy with careful handling

Selenite is a soft mineral, about Mohs hardness 2. It should NOT come into contact with water, because the satin surface gets damaged over time. You can wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. If dust gathers in the grooves, you can brush it out with a fine brush. Keep it dry and be careful not to drop it — especially the pyramid peak is more fragile. With this care you can enjoy it for many years.
