This selenite 'iceberg' is a natural-shape standing crystal that we have polished and set so that it stands on its own on your shelf or window sill. Its shape truly resembles a small iceberg: wider at the base, irregularly tapering toward the top.
The beauty of the iceberg form
Selenite is a soft, translucent mineral with a naturally fibrous longitudinal structure. When you look at this crystal, you see faint stripes running through it, as if tiny frozen jets of water were inside. This structure gives the mineral its characteristic silky sheen, and makes it return light scattered, with a slightly milky glow.
Where to place it
It gives the most beautiful sight when it receives natural light. Put it on a window sill where the morning or afternoon sun can reach it, and watch the interior of the crystal glow gently. Next to a tealight (but not directly above it!) it also looks lovely, because the light shines through the fibres.
Unique pieces
Every selenite iceberg is different. The height is typically between 8 and 12 cm, but the tilt of the tip, the width and the translucency are unique. You receive a similar but not identical piece to the one in the picture. This is the magic of a natural stone: no two are alike.
What else it is good for
Many people put it on their desk as a calming object for the eyes. After long typing, it is good to look at a soft, white object and let your gaze rest for a few moments. Others place it in the bedroom, where moonlight can catch it even before going to sleep.
What to watch out for
Selenite does not like water — never wash it, never place it in a humid spot. If it gets dusty, wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. The crystal is soft, so protect it from falls and knocks. Stored in a fabric pouch, the surface stays shiny for a long time.
