Selenite, the moon-white stone

The silky white stone often sold as selenite is in fact satin spar, the fibrous, lustrous form of gypsum. It takes its name from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon; its milk-white, moon-like glow evokes stillness and peace. Tradition knows it as a stone of purity and pure light.

The Flower of Life pattern

The Flower of Life is a pattern of regularly arranged, intersecting circles, one of the best-known motifs in sacred geometry. Tradition regards it as a symbol of the unity of life and the shared order of creation, an emblem of harmony and wholeness.

Properties and size

The heart is made from natural selenite (satin spar) and measures about 5 × 4.5 cm. The stone is a soft, water-sensitive mineral, so its surface can scratch gently; the silky bands of light vary from piece to piece, making every one unique.

Care

Selenite is soft and sensitive to water, so soaking is not advised. Keep it away from moisture, knocks and scratches; a soft, dry cloth is the best way to clean it.
