The crescent moon-shape selenite bowl is a refined little piece that can take on many useful roles. You do not have to decide right away what you want to keep in it — the bowl is decorative on its own, looking good even empty on a dressing table or nightstand.
The practical use of the moon shape
The crescent shape is elongated, slightly arched, and made with a shallow depression. This means small items do not roll out of it, but you can see them all at a glance: earrings, rings, bracelets, a few smaller cleansing minerals. Because the form is shallow, you do not have to 'rummage' in it — you find what you are looking for at first sight.
Where it can be used
On a dressing table where you put your jewellery down in the morning and evening. On a nightstand where you place your watch, earrings, rings before sleep. On the entrance console table, where you keep keys, your wedding band and a few small items. On a bathroom shelf — but as it is selenite, far from steam and water spray!
What you can put in it
Jewellery, smaller semi-precious stones, gemstone beads, tealight candles (cooled, as decoration), small essential oil vials. Many people are mineral collectors and keep smaller polished stones — heart palm stones, tiny selenite chunks — in the bowl as a decorative arrangement.
Unique pieces
Each moon-bowl differs slightly. The degree of curvature, the thickness of the wall, the fineness of striation vary per piece. You receive a similar but uniquely patterned piece. The size is typically 14-16 cm long, 5-7 cm wide, and the depression 1-2 cm deep.
What to watch out for
Selenite does not like water — never wash it, do not place it on a wet surface. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth if dusty. The bowl is more fragile than the round forms because the crescent tips are more delicate: do not place heavy items on it, do not drop it. On a stable, horizontal surface it will have a long life.
