This Scorpio dish is made of mango wood. It is round, 10 cm across and 2.5 cm high, with a glossy lacquered inside and a dark blue rim with gold dots. The white centre shows a scorpion drawn in gold lines, its tail curled high above its back. A small hole in the scorpion's body holds an incense stick. A ring of constellations decorates the edge. The grain varies a little from piece to piece. Made in India; you receive one dish.
The scorpion and Orion
In Greek legend a scorpion brought down Orion the hunter. In the sky the two were kept apart, too: Scorpius is a summer constellation and Orion a winter one, so you hardly ever see them together.
Scorpio runs roughly from 23 October to 21 November and is a water sign. Astrological tradition sees its people as passionate and loyal. They feel deeply and know how to keep a secret.
For dark autumn evenings
If you like to light incense on long autumn evenings, push the stick into the hole and set the dish on a heat-proof surface. Don't leave it burning unattended, and open a window afterwards. Incense sticks are not included, so choose them separately.
When nothing is burning, it holds a ring, a pair of earrings or a small keepsake.
For an October or November birthday
For a Scorpio friend's birthday, this is a present that shows their own sign and gets used every day. It is worth finding out which incense scent they like and adding a box. The dish comes in all twelve signs.
