The dark green box reads Tree of Life and holds 15 g of Satya incense sticks. Its scent is softly woody and fresh, neither sweet nor heavy. They were made in Bengaluru, India.
The tree that reaches the sky
The tree of life appears in the beliefs of many peoples. In Norse myth, Yggdrasil, the world tree, links the worlds together, and in Hungarian folk tales the sky-high tree grows from the ground up beyond the clouds. The name on the box points to this old image.
A fresh, woody scent for your desk
Because it is not overpowering, it suits a quiet, busy morning while you sit at your desk. It also works in the living room, for a long evening chat.
Stay close while it burns
Stand the stick in a heatproof holder, light it, then blow out the flame. Keep a window open while it burns and don't leave the room empty. To stop early, press the glowing end into sand.
Ash falls along the length of the stick, so on a desk use a holder whose tray runs right under it. That keeps your papers and keyboard clean, and there is nothing to wipe up afterwards.
Satya and Vedic Tree of Life
We also have a Vedic Tree of Life incense in a turquoise box, if you would like to compare the two. The ingredient list of this Satya pack shows vanillin, coumarin, Yara Yara powder and fragrance. Close the box after use so the sticks keep their scent longer.
