The red box reads 7 Archangels and holds 15 g of Satya incense sticks. Its scent is soft and aromatic, a gently sweet, layered blend. Made in India, the box is 22 cm long.
The seven angels of the Book of Tobit
In the Book of Tobit, the angel Raphael says he is one of the seven angels who stand before God. This is where the image of seven archangels comes from, kept alive in several Christian traditions. Michael and Gabriel are the best known of them. The archangels shown together are also a common subject of Orthodox icons.
On 29 September, Michaelmas, the Catholic calendar celebrates the archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael together. If that day matters to you, or you want to greet someone called Michael on his name day, this incense makes a thoughtful small gift.
For prayer or a candle at night
If you light a candle in the evening, say a prayer or simply sit quietly after a long day, this soft scent goes well with it. It is not heavy, so it stays pleasant in a small room too.
Burn it under supervision
Light the tip and blow it out as soon as it catches. Use a heatproof holder, a little away from candles and curtains, and never leave it unattended. Keep a window open meanwhile. A long holder with a tray catches the falling ash.
The larger red box in the photos is the outer pack. You receive one 15 g pack. The ingredient list shows vanillin, coumarin, Yara Yara powder and fragrance.
