Sound and character
The santoor playing technique lets you sound the monochord's strings not only by stroking but by striking — much like a hammered dulcimer. Thanks to the carbon shaft, the mallet is exceptionally light and bounces back beautifully, so fast, controlled, repeating strikes are easy and tireless. One side of the head is leather, the other felt: the leather side gives a more defined, percussive, ringing tone; the felt side delivers a softer, darker, rounder character. One mallet — two different colours on the same monochord string.
How to use
This 19 cm version is recommended specifically for smaller hands: for children, or for adults with smaller palms. The slim, gracefully shaped grip sits naturally between the index and ring fingers. Use it for percussive play on monochords and on Monolina/Monolini-type string instruments. The two coated sides let you switch articulation on a single mallet — just rotate it. Excellent for ceremonies, children's sessions and therapeutic work.
Why this product
If you are looking for a quality monochord mallet for children or smaller adult hands, the 19 cm size is the most comfortable choice. The carbon shaft and maple head are durable and well-controlled, and the dual coating (leather / felt) gives two characters in one tool — rare and valuable for teaching too.
Care tips
- Try both sides — leather is brighter, felt softer.
- Start with light, springy strokes; the carbon shaft does part of the work itself.
- Store flat, away from moisture — both maple and leather prefer stable conditions.
- Do not use on hard objects — this mallet is made specifically for string instruments.
- Wipe head and shaft with a soft, dry cloth.
