Lighting a single stick is a small but present gesture, a pause carved into the middle of the day. In this piece palo santo, the holy wood takes the lead.
Palo santo, the holy wood, up close
A hand-shaped smudge ball of pure palo santo wood shavings and powder with a natural binder. Burned on charcoal, the sweet, woody, faintly citrusy smoke of palo santo unfolds in full.
Palo santo, the holy wood, is South America's traditional space-clearing incense wood; only naturally fallen, aged wood is used. The ball form gives a more concentrated, ceremonial smoke experience.
Smudge ball – a pressed botanical-resin blend
The smudge ball is a dense, hand-shaped blend of selected herbs and resins. Placed on a charcoal disc, it releases its rich, full smoke gradually, so even a few pieces unfold into a long-lasting fragrance.
- Form: hand-shaped incense ball
- Size: approx. 3 cm across
- Burning: on a glowing charcoal disc, a little at a time
Use and good to know
Use it in a stable, heat-resistant holder in a well-ventilated space, away from anything flammable. Light the tip, let it catch for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame so the smouldering end releases the scent, and never leave it burning unattended.
This is a hand-made product built from natural materials, so colour, thickness and the nuance of the scent can vary slightly from piece to piece; that variation is part of its artisanal origin, not a flaw.
One lit stick, a few quiet minutes; sometimes that is all it takes for the room and the attention to settle again.
