Palo Santo – the scent of the "holy wood" from Argentina
Palo Santo – the "holy wood" – is a valuable South American tree whose scent has been used for cleansing, calming rituals for centuries. These Sahumitos bundles are made by hand in Argentina by the artisans of the Sagrada Madre workshop. The scent is sweetly woody, softly smoky, and many find it especially well-suited to a quiet evening or meditation.
What you get in the 5-piece set
You get a display box containing 5 Sahumitos bundles. The inner core of each bundle is made of cedar, laurel and eucalyptus, with an outer layer of Palo Santo. The 5-piece quantity is enough for several weeks of regular ritual, or you can give some away to friends.
How they are made
Sagrada Madre Sahumitos are 100% natural, handcrafted products. Herbs, flowers and resin are bound together with a plant-based binder. The workshop uses scentless fruit biomass and charcoal as combustion agents – materials that would otherwise be discarded. The name Sagrada Madre means "Holy Mother" (Pancha Mama), and the workshop's work is built on respect for the resources of nature.
How to use
Place the bundle in a fireproof bowl or abalone shell with a little sand at the bottom. Light the tip of the bundle, let it catch fire for a moment, then gently blow it out. The smouldering bundle slowly and steadily releases its scent. One bundle burns for about 60 minutes. By ancient custom, many people guide the smoke around the room or around objects for a cleansing occasion.
Safety and storage
Never leave a burning bundle unattended. Keep it away from children, pets, curtains and draft. Always use it on a heat-resistant surface or in a fireproof bowl. The 5-piece box has a gross weight of 130 g and a size of approx. 10 cm. Country of origin: Argentina.
