Smooth, tumbled rutilated quartz stones in which golden rutile needles run through clear quartz. The palm-friendly form is ideal as a pocket stone, for meditation or a mineral collection.
The stone of rutilated quartz
Rutilated quartz is clear or lightly smoky quartz threaded with golden, needle-like rutile inclusions (titanium dioxide); its Mohs hardness is around 7. The fine golden strands draw a different pattern in every piece, which makes it especially eye-catching. In crystal lore it is known as a stone of light, clarity and transformation, and tradition links it with elevated awareness and renewal.
The tumbled form
Tumbled stones gain their smooth, rounded surface through long polishing, which makes them sit pleasantly in the palm – a favourite as a pocket stone and meditation piece. This selection is mixed A/B quality: as a natural mineral, each piece can differ in shade, pattern and clarity, and every stone is unique. Pieces typically range between 0.5 and 2.5 cm.
Ways to use it
Rutilated quartz works beautifully as a pocket stone, in a crystal corner or as a collector’s piece. Its golden strands bring a special, luminous detail to a space.
Care and good to know
This is a durable mineral, yet it is worth protecting from knocks and abrasive surfaces and storing apart from other stones. Now and then you can rinse it under lukewarm water and pat it dry with a soft cloth.
