Contents of this rune set
This complete rune set consists of twenty-five small polished clear quartz stones. Each stone is engraved with one rune symbol from the Old Norse Futhark alphabet. Alongside the twenty-four traditional runes, a blank ("wyrd") stone is also included, considered in modern rune casting as a symbol of fate or the unknown. We recommend it to you because the translucent, clear appearance of quartz nicely highlights the darker engraving.
Stone characteristics
The stones are small, about 1.5-2 centimetres wide, with an oval or gently flattened polish. The material is natural clear quartz, so the stones are translucent or slightly milky-translucent, and feel cool to the touch. The engraved symbol is darker in colour and clearly stands out from the stone's light background.
The velvet pouch
The set comes with a soft, dark-coloured velvet pouch into which the stones easily fit. The pouch closes with a drawstring so the stones do not fall out. You can carry it conveniently, and the stones do not clink loudly inside the pouch.
How you may use it
Runes are traditionally drawn or cast after asking a question. It is up to you which method you use – many people enjoy a single-rune "daily symbol", others prefer three-rune or larger spreads. It is worth getting a separate symbol guide, as the set itself does not include a printed manual.
Care
Wipe the stones with a soft, dry cloth. For tougher dirt a slightly damp cloth may be used, but dry immediately afterwards. Avoid strong chemicals. The pouch can be cleaned with a soft brush or a gentle vacuum attachment.
